Thoughts for the New Year

Well, as the new year starts, we all wait with bated breath to see what happens when Trump takes office. We have the pro-Trump and anti-Trump Substacks going nuts before the guy is even sworn in, which gives you an idea of what we’re in for once he actually is. I wouldn’t worry about the DEATH OF DEMOCRACY though; we are too ornery to let some idiot tell us what to do. Remember my mantra: It’s the economy, stupid. If people feel like they are better off economically in two years, the Republicans will control Congress; if they don’t, the Democrats will take over. FDR won because the Great Depression started on Hoover’s watch; Obama won because the Great Recession started on Bush’s watch. That’s the way America rolls. The rest is just sound and fury, signifying nothing. Trump in a nutshell.
